Cruise Passenger Rescued by Portuguese Air Force

The Portuguese Air Force rescued a passenger from a cruise ship after the man had felt unwell.

The 47-year-old traveller was aboard AIDAblu, around 257 km off the coast of Montijo when he fell ill Monday evening, December 11.

At the time the cruise ship was surrounded by adverse weather conditions, such as strong winds and swells of up to 8 metres.

An aircraft and helicopter were dispatched and the passenger, who was in need of urgent medical care, was  evacuated.
