The first cruise ship in the new Explorers series of Ponant - Le Laperouse, is entering the final stages of construction. The new expedition ship arrived in Norway, where construction will continue in Vard shipyard.
Transferred via rail and then lowered into water by synchrolift (December 18), in Romania, mv Le Laperouse reached Vard shipyard, where the construction will be completed. The vessel was towed by BB Troll, and then sailed through Mediterranean, passing Gibraltar, Bay of Biscay and crossing the English Channel to reach Norway.
Le Laperouse is the first of the 4 expedition ships, Ponant Explorers, to launch this June, followed by Le Champlain, which is set for delivery in fall 2018. Le Bougainville and Le Kerguelen are due to enter service in 2019.
