Kenya Welcomes Increasing Number of Cruise Passengers

The number of international visitors who come to Kenya has signifcantly increased since the start of cruise tourism season in October 2017.

Port of Mombasa received 5 cruise ships with international passengers from Canada, the United States, and United Kingdom, among others.

On Monday, Silver Spirit docked at the port carrying 394 crew members and 496 passengers. The ship made a stop at the coast of Kenya on its way to the Seychelles.

Kenya recorded approx 3,680 international tourist arrivals through port of Mombasa within the past 3 months. The first vessel docked October 23.

The Sh450M modern cruise terminal, which is under construction at berth #1, is now 50% complete and will be ready by July. It will allow for simultaneous berthing of 2 Oasis-class ships.

The new cruise ship terminal will feature state-of-the-art security features, immigration center, hotel and accommodation facility, as well as other social amenities.
