Speedcast International Ltd, provider of highly reliable, fully managed, remote communication & IT solutions, announced it had extended its relationship with Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines (RCCL), the largest consumer of satellite bandwidth (VOOM Internet) in cruise industry, which will further increase the bandwidth delivered across a total of 37 ships.
Speedcast’s experience with RCCL dates back to 2006, when the cruise company installed its first Ku-Band VSAT antenna onboard a ship to satisfy peak seasonal communication demand in Brazil region.
The Speedcast network currently delivers fully managed communications solutions along with value-added services to a total of 37 Royal Caribbean brand cruise ships for shipboard administration, and passenger and crew usage.
Multiple antennas on each ship with seamless automatic failover between Ku-Band & C-Band ensures high availability and SLAs (Service Level Agreements).
