VIDEO: Greg Mortimer Keel Laid

The keel was laid for Greg Mortimer cruise ship, being built at CMHI (China Merchants Heavy Industry) yard in Xaimen. Greg Mortimer is the first in a series of up to ten Infinity-class expedition vessels SunStone is building in China.

ULSTEIN which designed the X-BOW expedition ship, also provides the equipment package for 1 polar class ship and options for additional 9 vessels. The package includes ULSTEIN COM bridge system, and integrated automation system ULSTEIN IAS & ULSTEIN POWER, and site team support in order to ensure the ship delivery time.

Greg Mortimer is based on CX103 design and sports Polar Class 6 notation. The ship measures 18.4 m in the beam and 104.3 m in length.

It will be operating for Aurora Expeditions, and received the name Greg Mortimer to honour company’s adventurous co-founder.

For expedition voyages in the polar regions, the ship will take on just 120 travelers, though it can accommodate 255 persons, including crew.
