German Pop Singer Goes Overboard from AIDAluna

A German pop singer is reportedly missing from AIDA Cruises ship off the coast of Newfoundland and Labrador.

33-year-old Daniel Kueblboeck, a contestant in 2003 on the German version of talent search show Pop Idol, "Germany Seeks the Superstar", has gone overboard from AIDAluna, which was sailing from Hamburg to New York.

Kueblboeck released 4 successful singles and an album. He also appeared in other reality TV shows. The coast guard is currently searching for Kueblboeck. 

AIDAluna was due to dock in Saint Johns NL Sunday afternoon. The cruise ship sent an alert to the Canadian Coast Guard at around 6:00 a.m. Another cruise ship which was due in port on Sunday reportedly sailed back to assist AIDAluna.

Via Twitter, AIDA Cruises confirmed late Sunday morning a person had jumped overboard early Sunday. The staff had carried out a cabin check and confirmed the missing passenger was Kueblboeck.

The company tweeted that the vessel was stopped as a precaution and returned to the spot where Kueblboeck had gone overboard.
