On September 11, about 280 AIDA Cruises executives welcomed Manuela Schwesig, prime minister of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, at AIDA Management Days in Rostock, Germany.

The occasion was marked by signing of Declaration of Intend between AIDA, the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, ROSTOCK PORT and Hanseatic and University City of Rostock to jointly promote sustainable and environmentally friendly cruise shipping in Rostock.

The aim of the agreement, analogous to Kiel and Hamburg, is to build a shore power plant for cruise vessels in port Rostock. Already in 2020, the first cruise ships of AIDA should be supplied with shore power while docking in Rostock-Warnemunde. Therefore the cruise line will fully equip its vessels that regularly call Rostock-Warnemunde with shore power connection.

Furthermore, AIDA will support Rostock Port and Hanseatic and University City of Rostock in major projects and events via sponsorship activities. Between September 14-16, 2018, the first Rostock Cruise Festival is celebrating its premiere with AIDA Cruises as premium partner.
