Passenger Medevaced from Norwegian Escape

An elderly man has been medevaced from a Norwegian Cruise Line ship south of Nantucket MA on Saturday, September 22.

According to US Coast Guard, an aircrew from the CG Air Station Cape Cod has medevaced a 78-year-old man from Norwegian Escape after the passenger suffered apparent stroke around 40 nautical miles south of Nantucket Island.

The crew of the cruise ship notified the USCG of the man’s condition at approx 5:00 p.m.

Air Station Cape Cod MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew which arrived on scene, hoisted the man and a nurse from the cruise ship at approx 7:30 p.m. and transported both to Rhode Island Hospital.

At the time of the transfer, the man was reported to have been in stable condition.
