25 Passengers Rescued After Ferry Runs Aground Off Saint Lucia

Twenty-five stranded passengers were rescued Thursday night, December 27, when their ferryboat ran aground off St Lucia Island.

According to a law enforcement official, the vessel (identified as Bleu & Or ferry) was on one-day trip from Martinique to Saint Lucia. The law enforcement official revealed that at about 7 pm, the ship ran aground off Furore Rock, approx 200 yards (0,11 miles) off Marisule beach. The ferry sustained hull damage.

Two lifeboats from IGY Rodney Bay Marina assisted the stranded ferry and took the passengers to shore. No injuries were reported. The ferry was later taken to the marina and put into drydock for repairs.
