South Korea Opens Its Largest Cruise Ship Terminal

South Korea’s largest cruise ship terminal opened on April 26 in Songdo, an international business district in Incheon, west of Seoul, port authorities announced.

Since 2013, Incheon Port Authority has spent 28 billion won (US$24 million) to build the 2-story terminal with a total of 7,364 m2 (79,265 ft2) of floor space.

On the same day, the 2800-passenger Costa Serena left the port for Fukuoka City on a 6-day itinerary that ends in Busan.

Six different organizations signed an agreement to cooperate on promotion of cruise tourism: Incheon Port Authority, the local governments of Yeonsu district and Incheon city, Korea Tourism Organization, Incheon Tourism Organization, Lotte Tour Development.

The new cruise terminal in Incheon is the biggest in the nation as well as the first of its kind close to the capital.
