There will be 2 fewer cruise ships visiting Sydney NS Canada, during summer 2019. One Ocean Expeditions (vessel chartering cruisetour company) announced on Tuesday, May 21, that Russia's Government had unexpectedly cancelled the leases on two of its icebreaking vessels.
The ships Akademik Sergey Vavilov and Akademic Ioffe were seasonally chartered by One Ocean on Antarctic and Arctic itineraries. Both vessels also toured around Gulf of St Lawrence stopping in Sydney NS for provisioning.
A spokeswoman for One Ocean Expeditions said no one would likely comment because the cancelled charters were now part of legal action. Meanwhile, the company is trying to rebook passengers on its 3rd ship, RCGS Resolute, and is also refunding guests who cannot be accommodated.
