RCCL-Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. announced it has ordered a 3rd Icon Class ship scheduled for delivery in 2025. The shipbuilding order for the third Icon-class unit was placed with the German shipbuilder Meyer Werft (Turku Shipyard, Finland).
Once complete, the newbuild (on order) will join the other two Icon-Class ships set for deliveries in 2022 and 2024.
Little is publicly known about the line's Icon Class vessels, other than they will have passenger capacity around 5000 and will be LNG-powered - a combination of LNG (liquefied natural gas) and fuel cell technology.
