Saga Cruises revealed plans for a newbuild riverboat that will start cruises in Europe in Spring 2021.

The new ship (Spirit of the Rhine) will sail on the rivers Rhine, Main, Moselle, and Danube, as well as on the Dutch waterways. The boat will be the 3rd of the company's newbuild vessels - following the ocean liners (sisterships) Spirit of Discovery (July 2019) and Spirit of Adventure (August 2020).

According to Saga Cruises, “almost all” the new ship’s 17 m2 staterooms will feature floor to ceiling windows and a French balcony.

The 190-passenger riverboat will be constructed by the Dutch company Vahali Shipyards Zasavica (Sremska Mitrovica, Serbia) and will have a reservations-only “show cooking” restaurant, main dining space, and library. A sun deck, barbecue, and hot tub will also be offered as well as a small gym.

Spirit of the Rhine cruises will be inclusive of beer, wine by the glass and soft drinks with all lunches and dinners. For the first time, Saga UK added in the cruise fares the onboard gratuities and VIP transfers (from passengers’ homes to the airport and the ship) as standard.
