The ‘Queen of Barbaresco,’ Gaia Gaja, was announced as the Godmother of the new ultra-luxury ship of Silversea - Silver Moon.
Gaja is of the 5th generation to own and manage the popular Gaja winery in the small Italian town of Barbaresco - an iconic producer of fine wine since 1859. As the cruise ship’s Godmother, she will be honoured with officially naming the newbuild, Silver Moon, at an official ceremony in Trieste Italy on August 5, 2020.
From an early age, Gaia Gaja was encouraged to take an interest in the winemaking process. She even had a wine named in her honour before she learned to walk. Along with her siblings, Gaja is a guardian of the family’s illustrious legacy, fostered an acclaimed reputation as a leading producer of fine wines.
Gaja’s connection with Italian culinary culture made her the best choice for Silver Moon’s Godmother. The line's new culinary concept, S.A.L.T. (Sea and Land Taste), is expected to launch with the new ship on August 6, 2020.
