A steel cutting ceremony was held for the new CX103 expedition cruise design, Sylvia Earle, on March 16, 2020, at CMHI Haimen yard in China. Sylvia Earle has been designed for SunStone Ships by Ulstein Design & Solutions AS.
Sylvia Earle is the sistership of Greg Mortimer, which was delivered in September last year. The operator for both ships is the Australian company Aurora Expeditions.
Sylvia Earle is vessel number 2 in the INFINITY series of SunStone, and the 4th of Ulstein designed exploration cruise ships under construction at the yard.
Designed with an X-BOW hull, the ship is due to provide the best possible comfort for guests in rough head seas, as well as being very fuel-efficient.
