France's Government will reimburse EUR 30 million (USD 35,5 million) in payroll costs to French ferry shipping companies that were severely hit by the COVID crisis and Brexit, Prime Minister Jean Castex told parliament.

Passenger shipping companies have suffered from lower traffic to/from Britain because of quarantine measures and uncertainty around the exit of the country from the European Union.

According to France's Prime Minister, they had decided to reimburse all payroll costs of Brittany Ferries for the 2021 financial year, representing a commitment of ~EUR 15 million.

Castex added that an equivalent amount would be offered to other ferry firms.
