In conjunction with Earth Day, CCL-Carnival Cruise Line released a new video, “LNG Powers the Fun,” highlighting the environmental benefits of LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas).

LNG is a groundbreaking fuel technology to be utilized on two newbuilds, Mardi Gras, scheduled to debut later in 2021 from Port Canaveral FL, and Carnival Celebration, expected to enter service from PortMiami FL in 2022.

Working closely with Finland's Meyer Turku shipyard, its energy and technology partner, Shell, the Port Canaveral and PortMiami teams, and a host of other parties, CCL is the first line to bring LNG to North America on these 180,000-ton Excel-class vessels.

Mardi Gras and Celebration are among 9 Excel-class newbuilds owned by Carnival Corporation to employ the eco-friendly fuel, one of the world's cleanest, significantly reducing emissions with cleaner exhaust.

New terminal facilities were built at Port Canaveral FL and are under construction at PortMiami FL. Shell has chartered the QLNG 4000 fuel barge to facilitate bunkering Carnival Mardi Gras while Port Canaveral has acquired a purpose-built fireboat to support the tug of the LNG provider.
