Emerald Cruises has offered river cruise travellers their EmeraldACTIVE tour programme at no extra cost since 2016.

In the past 5 years, EmeraldACTIVE offerings have grown by ~50%, encompassing all river voyages across Europe and in Asia, adding brand new activities like canoeing and kayaking.

In 2019, Emerald Cruises announced that all European river sailings would feature a dedicated Activity Manager to lead EmeraldACTIVE tours, offer group fitness programmes and assist travellers with planning individual athletic walks or cycling tours while in port.

With the next year's launch of Emerald Cruises’ first ocean-going superyacht, Emerald Azzurra, EmeraldACTIVE tours are available on both ocean and river sailings for 40 active excursion options across all Emerald itineraries.

A total of 31 EmeraldACTIVE tour options are available to passengers on all European river cruises, including 15 guided hikes available across 8 countries, 13 guided bike tours encompassing 140+ miles of cycling, as well as guided canoe tours in France and Portugal.

8 new EmeraldACTIVE tours are available on Emerald Azzurra yacht cruises in the Mediterranean, Aegean, Red Seas.

2 EmeraldACTIVE shore trips on Mekong voyages in Southeast Asia, including a kayak tour of Halong Bay, Vietnam, and Vespa tour of the countryside close to Siem Reap, Cambodia.

EmeraldACTIVE hiking tours on the European rivers include a guided hike along the terraced vine slopes of the Cotes du Rhone or an active trek through the woodlands of the Black Forest on Rhine River sailings. Cycling fans can take part in a 23-mile bike tour through the vineyards of Wachau Valley in northern Austria or enjoy a shorter city ride in Arnhem, Netherlands.

When Emerald Azzurra launches next year, passengers will be able to take part in EmeraldACTIVE trips in locales like a guided hiking tour to Italy's Forte Filippo in Port Ecole, and a guided bike tour around historic Kusadasi, Turkey.
