Marella Cruises cancels sailings from Barbados (Bridgetown) and Palma de Mallorca

Marella Cruises UK canceled the next scheduled voyage on Marella Discovery because of local changes in Barbados.

All 4 of the 2076-passenger ship’s voyages from Bridgetown in 2022 have been scrapped.

The 4th sailing was scheduled to depart on Sunday, January 23.

Barbados' authorities recently announced that they were no longer allowing cruisers with COVID-positive tests to disembark and stay in quarantine hotels.

Affected tourists were offered the choice of changing their voyage or receiving a full refund.

A Marella spokesperson said:

“We can confirm that as a result of local changes in Barbados, we have unfortunately had to cancel Marella Discovery’s upcoming sailing on January 23.”

The UK-based cruise line also canceled 3 March sailings from Palma de Mallorca (Majorca Island, Balearic Spain) last week but did not give a specific reason for the cancellations. Marella canceled all 3 of its voyages departing from Majorca in March 2022. The TUI Group-owned company confirmed that 7-night roundtrips onboard Marella Discovery 2 on March 15, 22 & 29 will no longer go ahead as scheduled.
