Hilpoltstein is a town situated in the district of Roth (Bavaria, Germany). It is llocated 10 km (6 ml) southeast of Roth bei Nurnberg and 30 km (18,6 ml) south of Nuremberg, near the lake 'Rothsee. Hilpoltstein has a total area of 91.42 km2 (35.30 ml2) and a population of around 13,300 inhabitants (2015 census).
Origins of the town of Hilpoltstein and its castle date back to the 10th century. Town privileges were granted to Hilpoltstein in 1354. In 1799 Hilpoltstein became part of Bavaria.
