Mayapur is a Ganges River cruise port located at the point of its confluence with Jalangi close to Nabadwip, West Bengal in India, 130 km (81 ml) north of Kolkata (Calcutta).
- The headquarters of ISKCON (International Society of Krishna Consciousness) have been situated in the city of Mayapur since the 1970s and it's considered a holy place by several other traditions within Hinduism. It is also of special significance to Gaudiya Vaishnavism's followers as the birthplace of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu (1486-1534), regarded as special incarnation of Krishna in Radha's mood. Visited by more than million pilgrims per year, Mayapur can be easily reached by boat, or more commonly by bus or train.
- Srila Prabhupada's Pushpa Samadhi Mandir is a major attraction in Mayapur. It is a memorial to the founder of ISKCON. The main shrine is encircled by a museum which depicts Srila Prabhupada's life via fiberglass exhibits. In 2002, International Society of Krishna Consciousness was intending to construct a garden to honour George Harrison.
- Another must-see is Mayapur Chandrodaya Mandir. The temple has three main altars, Lord Narasimha Deva, Sri Sri Radha Madhava and Panca-tattva. Pancha Tattva deities are the world's Largest Deities of Pancha tattva. Panca-tattva comprises advaita acharya, nityananda prabhu, srivas thakur, gadadhara pandit and Sri chaitanya mahaprabhu.
- There are a number of other Mayapur-based Gaudiya Vaishnava organisations in addition to ISKCON, like Gaudiya Math. The town is centered on this Vaishnava religious tradition, officially popular as Brahma-Madhva-Gaudiya Sampradaya, featuring temples devoted to Krishna and Radha, or Gaura-Nitai throughout.
