In the morning on April 19, 2014, a small boat collided with the ferry and sank in Stockholm archipelago (near Maro Island). The cruise ship was en-route from Stockholm to Mariehamm (Aland Finland), carrying a total of 1827 passengers.
After the boat sank, its 3 passengers (2 men and 1 woman) were successfully rescued (retrieved from the sea), brought onto the island, given dry clothes, treated for shock, then taken to a hospital.
The accident occurred in foggy conditions. The collision took place approx 200 m / 700 ft from the shore. The rescue was successful only due to the quick-response of the locals who helped with their own boats.
