Cordelia Empress cabins review

Of all MS Empress cruise ship cabins, only three are wheelchair-accessible (for disabled passengers). These are staterooms 4550 (H-Outside) and 4605-4607 (N-Inside). The ship has a total of 18 cabin categories, including the "Guaranteed" categories: W-Suite, Y-Oceanview, and Z-Inside. Note that, as an older cruise vessel, her staterooms are generally smaller compared to those on newer ships in the same categories.

Below is a review of RCI Empress of the Seas staterooms, including amenities, furnishings, and services:

All Suites on Empress of the Seas feature Queen-size beds, spacious bathrooms (with whirlpool bathtubs and separate showers), large living areas (vanity, walk-in closet, drawers), and private verandas with lounge furniture. Suite-level bonus amenities include luxury mattresses and pillows, CD/DVD library, arrangements for private parties, priority services (Salon/Spa appointments, booking RCI shore excursions and dining, express luggage delivery, priority embarkation/disembarkation and tendering), reserved theater seating, luxury cotton robes, VIP seating on the pool deck, and complimentary pressing on formal nights only.

The Royal Suite includes a separate master bedroom (with queen bed, walk-in closet, and direct bathroom access), a bathroom (with whirlpool tub, separate shower, and vanity), a separate living room (with refrigerator, wet bar, and dining area with a 4-seat table), a lounge area (with comfortable seating and media center), and a large private balcony (furnished with a 4-seat dining table and sun loungers).

Owner Suites also come with private balconies and bathrooms with bathtubs. These suites have an additional sofa bed to accommodate a third guest. Junior Suites feature convertible twin beds (to Royal King), lounge areas, private balconies, and bathtubs in the bathrooms. Some Junior Suites also include a sofa bed for a third guest. Note: the following Junior Suites do not have sitting areas—deck 7 (cabins 7186, 7188, 7686, 7688, 7690), deck 8 (cabin 8686), and deck 9 (cabin 9684).

The SO-Superior Ocean View category offers larger staterooms but with obstructed views (due to lifeboats). These cabins have picture windows, two convertible twin beds, a bathroom with shower, and a spacious living area with desk, drawers, vanity, and sofa. Oceanview categories F1-F2-F3 also have picture windows (round-shaped, 24 inches / 61 cm in diameter).

Outside cabins in categories H and G, located on the ship’s lowest passenger decks (3 and 4), are equipped with porthole windows. Category I cabins have partially obstructed views.

All Empress of the Seas staterooms are equipped with two twin beds (convertible to Royal King), ample closet and drawer space, a private bathroom (with shower or bathtub, hairdryer, and bath products), sitting area (with desk, drawers, vanity, and sofa), LCD TV, individual air conditioning, direct-dial phone, electronic safe (in closet), radio, minibar, Internet access, and 24-hour room service (complimentary between 5 am and 12 am).

Most lower-category staterooms have additional sleeping arrangements such as a sofa bed and/or bunk beds (Pullman beds) for a third or fourth guest. Twin beds measure 36 x 82 inches (90 x 210 cm).

In-cabin babysitting is available for up to four children per stateroom at a rate of US$19 per child per hour. Movies, toys, and games suitable for children with autism can be borrowed for in-cabin use.

Shipwide Wi-Fi is available at an extra cost (charged per device, per day). It offers fast connectivity throughout the ship, including support for movie streaming.
