Viking Ran cabins review

Of all Viking Ran staterooms, approximately 75% feature balconies. All Suites include two separate rooms – a living room (with a step-out balcony) and a bedroom (with a French balcony).

The Viking Cruises longship design allows the Middle and Upper decks to feature a starboard row of balcony cabins, each with a full, open-air, step-out veranda.

There are a total of 8 cabin categories (maximum capacity of 2 passengers per cabin).

The ship has no self-service laundry facilities (laundromats).

Below is a review of longship Viking Ran staterooms, including furnishings, price-inclusive amenities, and complimentary services:

All staterooms include standard complimentary amenities such as hotel-style beds (79 x 63 inches / 200 x 160 cm) with ample under-bed storage for suitcases, optional twin-bed configuration, a sliding-door wardrobe (with wooden hangers), dimmable LED lighting, and a private en-suite bathroom (glass-enclosed shower, heated floor, anti-fog mirror, hairdryer, razor-only outlet, premium toiletries/L'Occitane bath products, plush bathrobes and slippers upon request). Additional features include a telephone, mini-fridge, electronic safe (in the closet), 40-inch HDTV (with channels such as CNN, FOX, CNBC, NG, MGM, Sky Cinema, infotainment system with Internet and on-demand movies, “View From the Bridge” real-time webcam views, and a ship information channel), individual air-conditioning, 220V / 110V power outlets, and USB ports.

Each Veranda Stateroom features a private step-out balcony with lounge furniture (low table and two deckchairs).

French Balcony cabins, Veranda Staterooms, and Suites feature floor-to-ceiling sliding doors.

Both Standard Cabin categories (E and F) are water-level staterooms located on the Main Deck only. Instead of a full (step-out) or French balcony, they feature small (non-opening) windows positioned near the ceiling.

The list of Viking River Cruises price-inclusive cabin amenities includes daily replenished bottled water, a bowl of fresh fruit, free Wi-Fi internet (shipwide), and a personal cabin steward (twice-daily housekeeping service).

Both Explorer Suites (located aft on Upper Deck 3) are the ship’s largest accommodations. They feature a wraparound veranda, a separate lounge and bedroom, a walk-in closet, and a larger bathroom with a dual-sink vanity. Veranda Suites (all on Upper Deck 3) also include walk-in closets and separate bedrooms with direct access to the bathroom.

Bonus amenities and complimentary suite-only perks include:

  • (categories ES and AA) early check-in (no later than 12 noon), Viking Air Plus (flight package), laundry and shoeshine services, daily fruit plate, champagne upon boarding, and a replenished daily mini-bar (fully stocked with wines, beers, and soft drinks), as well as binoculars (for in-cabin use only)
  • (category ES) room service for breakfast, airport transfers (within Europe only), coffee-making machine, Marius wool blankets, and Silver Spirits (all-inclusive beverage package with alcoholic drinks included)
