A separate link provides an extensive information on Ambition staterooms (cabins and suites), including photos, cabin plans and amenities by room type and category.
MS Ambition (originally built in 1999 as "Mistral", last refurbished in April-May 2023, with a previous refurbishment by Costa in November 2019) was Costa's smallest cruise ship, previously known as Costa neoRiviera.
The vessel has undergone five name changes: MS Mistral (built for Festival Cruises, 1999–2003), MS Grand Mistral (2003–2013, operated by Iberocruceros), Costa neoRiviera (2014–2018, for Costa Cruises), AIDAmira (2019–2022, under AIDA Cruises), and Ambassador Ambition (since 2022, with Ambassador Cruise Line). Costa neoRiviera was part of Costa's "neoCollection" alongside fleetmates Costa neoClassica (now Grand Classica) and Costa neoRomantica (1993-built, scrapped in 2021).
The ship was owned by Costa Crociere (a Carnival Corporation subsidiary) and operated by Carnival’s German brand, AIDA Cruises.
After her 2019 drydock, Costa neoRiviera joined the AIDA fleet as AIDAmira. The vessel underwent extensive renovations, including reducing the number of swimming pools from three to two (enlarged and fitted with two large outdoor Jacuzzis on the Sun Deck). Out of the 624 staterooms, 96 were suites, 80 of which had private balconies.
AIDAmira’s deck plan shows a total of 624 cabins accommodating 1,248 passengers (maximum occupancy of 1,428), with a crew of 670. The ship features 13 decks (10 accessible to passengers, 4 with cabins), 6 restaurants and food bars, 6 bars and lounges, 2 swimming pools, 2 Jacuzzis (outdoor whirlpools), and 6 elevators.
Costa neoRiviera–AIDAmira Refurbishment 2019 Review
Between September and November 2019, Costa neoRiviera was drydocked in Port Genoa (San Giorgio del Porto Shipyard) for a major EUR 50 million / USD 55 million refurbishment project. The one-month drydock (October 30–November 28) was undertaken to convert the vessel into AIDAmira.
The project involved approximately 1,000 workers, including 150 shipyard staff. Upgrades included technical maintenance, repainting the hull and superstructure (adding AIDA’s signature livery), refurbishment of public areas, and the addition of new cabins—including 19 balcony and 3 interior cabins in the former Discoteca Portofino (disco nightclub) space, along with several additional staterooms on Deck 7.
Costa neoRiviera’s deck plan featured 624 staterooms accommodating 1,248 passengers (maximum capacity 1,727), and a crew of 600. The ship offered 8 passenger decks—each named after iconic Italian and French Riviera destinations—3 restaurants, 10 bars and lounges, 2 swimming pools, 2 Jacuzzis, and 6 elevators. There were no self-service laundromats available for passengers. Numerous artworks and paintings themed around the Italian and French Rivieras were displayed throughout the vessel.
