Review of American West deck 1 (Main)

Deck 1 has a truly unique feature - a 45 ft (14 m) longbow ramp allowing guests to go ashore at any place along the Queen of the West itinerary route. All organized shore excursions are complimentary (included in the American Cruise Lines prices), but guests can also arrange their own touring/shopping activities in ports of call.

The “Mt Hood Lounge” hosts various activities – from daily lectures and multimedia presentations to cocktail hours and evening shows (including magic acts). During the day, the lounge serves as an observation lounge, with 3-way panoramic views. This Victorian-style furnitured room has crystal chandeliers, arranged in rows upholstered chairs, cocktail tables. massive-wood bar, a stage for the live band performances in the evenings), and dance floor.

The Riverboatique Shop in the Lobby sells ACL logo merchandise, and also and handles DVDs for in-room use.

“Lewis & Clark” is the ship’s open-seating complimentary dining room. The single seating capacity restaurant has rectangular dining tables (6 seats) and also round tables (8 seats). Its furniture and amenities also include panoramic windows on two sides, mirrors covering the rear wall, classy crystal chandeliers. The dining room menu has American fare, with itinerary-inspired local gourmet specialties and fresh food (including fish, meat, in-season vegetables, and fruits). The buffet-style Breakfast (7:30-9 am) also includes made-to-order items. The lunch menu (12:30-1:30 pm) has a soup course, choice of 3 dishes, often BBQ pork meat sandwich, pasta, chef’s salad. The dinner menu (6:30-7:30 pm) has soup and salad, followed by 3 entrees (fish /salmon, and crab cakes), meat (lamb rack, and roast duck), and one vegetarian. The wine list has a selection of West Coast USA wines, available by bottle or glass). The menu for the next day is posted the night before. Any dietary needs will be catered to. Pie or cake are always available as dessert options, as well as a variety of ice creams.

Cruise cabins from 102s to 112, all of which are Riverview (non-opening windows) – 2x category S-Single occupancy rooms (#102s and 104s)), and 7x category A).
