Review of MV Ventus Australis deck 1 (Patagonia-Dining-Crew)

All fore-located staterooms are staff and crew cabins, plus the ship's Mess Room (crew lounge and dining room).

The aft-located Patagonia Dining Room is the ship's complimentary restaurant operated buffet-style breakfasts and lunches and 4-course dinners. The menu blends Continental and traditional Chilean cuisine specialties. The adjacent Galley (kitchen) also caters to special dietary requests.

The Patagonia restaurant has picture windows and multiple 4-seat to 8-seat tables. Passengers are assigned to a table at embarkation day for the entire cruise. The menu has many diet-friendly and vegetarian dishes. Food quality and variety are impressive for such a small ship. The food menu is designed by Peruvian chef Emilio Peschiera.

Onboard Breakfasts are buffet-style (without any a la carte items) and include eggs (scrambled, fried, boiled), bacon, sausage, cold cuts, breads, cereals, yogurts, juices. Coffee and tea are table-served. Breakfasts are between 8-9 am, except the day when the ships visits Cape Horn (then Breakfast is between 8.30-10 am).

Onboard Lunches are also buffet style and include a selection of salads, 1 soup, hot dishes (daily themed), including seafood specialties (sushi, sashimi, ceviche, king crab chowder), meat (short ribs, beef stew). Argentinean and Chilean wines by the glass  (red and white) are table-served. During lunch time passengers choose what they would like for dinner. Dinner menu has 3 traditional choices (meat, fish, vegetarian). Lunches are between 1-2 pm.

Onboard Dinners are waiter-served. The 4-course menu offers 1 starter, 1 soup, 1 main dish and 1 dessert. Argentinean and Chilean wines by the glass are also included. Dinners are between 8-9 pm.
