MS Sylvia Earle (2022-built) is the 4th in a 7-ship series of expedition cruise ships owned by SunStone Ships Inc (USA). The boat is operated under charter by Aurora Expeditions Australia. From the same INFINITY-Class, ULSTEIN CX103 design (sisterships) are Greg Mortimer (2019), Ocean Victory (2021), Ocean Explorer (2021), Ocean Albatros (2022), Ocean Odyssey (2022), Ocean Discoverer (2025).
Sylvia Earle cruise ship deck plan has a total of 80 staterooms for 120 passengers (max capacity 160) served by 56 crew (plus 18 staff), 8 decks (6 passenger-accessible/via 1 elevator, 4 with cabins), 2 sun decks (lower and upper), 3 restaurants, open-deck dining, piano bar, observation lounge (2-deck), show lounge (lectures theater), wellness (gym and spa) facilities, shop, library, changing facilities (Mudroom serving Zodiac landings), 20x Zodiac boats, swimming pool, 2z jacuzzis, pool bar.
For the interior designs of this entire series of SunStone-owned ships was contracted the Weston Florida-based company Tomas Tillberg Design. A new design concept implemented on the Sylvia Earle ship is the two-level (2-decks high) glass-enclosed Bar Lounge located at the bow (forward on decks 5-6).
In early-March 2021, Aurora Expeditions Australia announced that each passenger deck will be named after a famous female conservationist - Carden Crea Wallace AM (1970-born scientist), Joanna Lawrenson Ruxton (documentary movies producer), Sharon Kwok (1969-born, actress), Bernadette Demientieff (Gwichyaa Gwich'in/Kutchakutchin people, Alaska). Deck 5 is named Sylvia Earle (1935-born, US marine biologist, oceanographer, world explorer, author, lecturer).
