Greenland announced it expects a record-high number of cruise ship calls in 2022
Currently, a total of 463 cruise ship calls to the country have been announced for the summer season.
Sous Chef of Visit Denmark Mads-Daniel Skifte said they expected that the number of visits reported would be on par with 2019, which had set the previous record.
Some 30 to 45 cruise ships have announced their arrival in Greenland for the summer. And that causes optimism in the tourist industry of the country.
Skifte also pointed out that the cruise season grew longer in the future, as more vessels suited for Arctic conditions were under construction at present.
Nuuk is Greenland's capital city and largest port located on the country's southwestern coast. Nuuk is also the homeport (ferry port) for Arctic Umiaq Line (freight and passenger shipping company) serving the south-western Greenland route roundtrip from Nuuk.
