On Tuesday, April 11th, the crew of CCL-Carnival Cruise Line's ship Carnival Spirit rescued 24 people who were stranded on a small boat in the Caribbean Sea.
The ship was en route to Aruba (Oranjestad), near Dominicana and Puerto Rico when its officers spotted the drifting boat.
The crew safely brought all the 24 on board and had them checked by the ship's medical personnel, who found them to be in good health.
The liner contacted US Coast Guard officials from Puerto Rico and Dominicana to coordinate a transfer, which was completed near La Romana (Dominicana), when a USCG cutter arrived at ~3 pm. Carnival Spirit then resumed her voyage, as she had no scheduled stops on Tuesday.
The ship's visit to Aruba on Wednesday, April 12th, proceeds as planned.
Carnival Spirit departed from PortMiami Florida on April 8th for a week-long cruise and is expected to return on April 15th.
