P&O Cruises' Iona refurbishment delay prompts cruise cancellations

The planned refurbishment of P&O Cruises' vessel, Iona, has experienced delays, leading to the cancellation of two cruises scheduled for next year.

Originally slated for a refit in March 2025, the refurbishment has been postponed until October. Consequently, a 14-night Canary Islands cruise on October 4 and a 7-night Northern Europe cruise on October 18 have been cancelled.

While the specific reasons for the delay have not been disclosed, passengers reportedly received an email from P&O Cruises informing them of the cancellation.

Affected passengers from the October 4 sailing received similar notifications. They will be offered a full refund along with GBP 100 per person onboard credit for a future cruise.

It remains uncertain whether P&O Cruises will introduce new sailings for the original refurbishment dates in March.

As of now, Iona is scheduled to return to Southampton UK on March 13, 2025, with the next departure set for April 1, 2025.
