The Swiss owner of Viva Cruises, Scylla AG, has sold its ocean expedition vessel Seaventure and intends to expand its river fleet by 12 ships over the next 4 years.

Scylla confirmed that the sale of the 220-passenger Seaventure to an undisclosed international buyer is expected to be finalized this year.

Seaventure, owned by Scylla since 2019, has primarily been utilized for polar voyages (Arctic and Antarctic).

Scylla’s CEO Arno Reitsma noted that the sale occurred more swiftly than anticipated. He emphasized the company's significant growth plans for river cruises, with 12 new riverboats set to be launched by the end of 2028.

The first of these new ships, Porto Mirante, is destined for the Douro River, and Viva Enjoy follows in November. This expansion highlights Scylla's positive trajectory and dedication to river cruising.

Celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2023, Scylla operates ~40 vessels, many chartered to other operators.
