An emergency medical evacuation was undertaken by Indonesian maritime authorities over the weekend in response to two health-related incidents aboard the cruise vessel Mein Schiff 6, which was navigating waters off Aceh Province (Indonesia) at the time. The ship, operating an itinerary from Port Klang, Malaysia, requested immediate assistance when two passengers became acutely unwell.

The individuals requiring evacuation were identified as Hebert Ronald, an 86-year-old German national, and Yulia, a 43-year-old Russian citizen who is 15 weeks pregnant. Based on initial onboard medical evaluations, Ronald was experiencing complications believed to be associated with hypertension and diabetes. Yulia had sustained a nosebleed, raising medical concern due to her pregnancy status.

Upon receipt of the distress communication, the National Search and Rescue Agency of Indonesia (Basarnas) deployed a response vessel to rendezvous with Mein Schiff 6, which at the time was positioned approximately seven nautical miles northwest of a local port in Aceh.

Both passengers were successfully transferred from the ship to shore and transported to local medical facilities for continued care. While authorities have not issued further updates regarding their current conditions, officials commended the prompt coordination between ship and shore-based responders, which ensured the safe and efficient execution of the medical evacuation.
