Riverside Luxury Cruises will introduce three Riverside Active cycling departures aboard Riverside Mozart in 2027, combining guided rides along the Danube Cycle Path with the accommodation and onboard services of a luxury river cruise.
The programme will begin with a 7-night sailing from Passau to Vienna from July 22nd to 29th, followed by a 7-night Vienna to Budapest itinerary from July 29th to August 5th. The two cruises can also be combined into a 14-night journey from Passau to Budapest, providing access to up to 405 miles of the Danube Cycle Path.
Daily cycling routes will cover between 18 and 62 miles and will follow different sections of the river. Passengers will be able to use e-bikes from Riverside Mozart’s onboard fleet or bring their own bicycles, with storage provided on the ship. Each ride will be accompanied by a cycling guide and supported by a dedicated safety vehicle.
The routes will include several of the Danube’s notable cycling areas, including the Wachau Valley, the Schlögen Loop with its pronounced bend in the river, and the Danube Bend toward Visegrád. Depending on the itinerary, cyclists will pass vineyards, villages and historic sites, with routes such as the ride from Melk to Dürnstein through the Wachau.
The programme is designed to allow passengers to determine how much cycling they undertake. At selected ports, guests can choose between cycling and Riverside Choice excursions, while those who begin a ride but decide not to continue can use the support vehicle to reach the next port with their bicycle.
The format is also suited to couples and groups travelling together with different activity preferences. While one passenger can spend the day cycling, another can explore a destination independently, join an excursion or remain aboard Riverside Mozart. Both can then continue the cruise together.
Between cycling activities, passengers will have access to the ship’s wellness facilities. Riverside Mozart’s 1,292-square-foot spa includes a swimming pool with a tidal current, Jacuzzi, saunas, steam rooms, two treatment rooms and a relaxation area. The 743-square-foot fitness centre is equipped with treadmills, rowing machines and stationary bicycles, together with Technogym equipment, free weights and dedicated areas for stretching and yoga.
The programme combines point-to-point cycling on the Danube with a fixed base aboard Riverside Mozart, allowing passengers to explore extended sections of the river without changing accommodation or transporting luggage between destinations.
