Melbourne’s Station Pier recorded an uncommon event on Sunday, November 30th, when the sisterships Silver Nova and Silver Moon berthed simultaneously, the first occasion on which the two Silversea vessels had met alongside. Their parallel arrival drew a steady stream of onlookers who gathered along the waterfront to view the ships and photograph the pairing.
To coincide with the dual call, the Port of Melbourne arranged a day-long program of community activities at the pier. The schedule featured live music, small markets, street art and family-oriented entertainment, contributing to increased visitor numbers in the area. Observers were positioned along the West Finger Pier to obtain clear vantage points, while Melbourne artist Tom Gerrard developed a mural on-site and roaming performers from Horns of Leroy provided musical accompaniment. Organizers indicated that the strong turnout created a constructive atmosphere and expressed appreciation for the public’s participation.
The concurrent arrival also underscored Silversea’s intention to expand its presence in the region for the 2025–2026 season, during which three of the line’s vessels are planned to operate in Australian waters.
Following their stay in Melbourne, Silver Moon commenced a 16-day voyage to ports in South Australia and onward to New Zealand, while Silver Nova departed on a 12-night itinerary calling in Tasmania before continuing toward New Zealand.
