Ambassador Cruise Line has confirmed that it will operate three departures from Portsmouth during the forthcoming season, marking the port’s first inclusion in the company’s regional sailing programme. All three voyages will be undertaken by the vessel Ambition and are intended to broaden the line’s range of UK departure points.
The programme opens with a 6-night itinerary to Belgium, France and the Netherlands, scheduled to depart on April 6th. This will be followed by a 10-night spring voyage to Portugal and Spain, sailing on April 12th. A shorter Irish mini-break is also planned, although this sailing has already reached full capacity.
According to the company’s chief executive, Christian Verhounig, the introduction of Portsmouth as a home port represents a further stage in the line’s strategy to expand regional departures within the United Kingdom. He indicated that demand continues to be strong for cruises that do not require air travel, and that Portsmouth offers a practical embarkation point for passengers based across southern England. He also noted that the range of itineraries from the port has been selected to include well-established European destinations, with the intention of building a sustainable presence for the line at the harbour in future seasons.
