Travelmarvel, the premium touring and cruising brand of APT Travel Group, has marked the inaugural sailing of its newest European river vessel, TM Rigel, which departed Amsterdam on June 30th, 2026 on the popular European Gems itinerary to Budapest. The launch represents the latest stage in the company’s continued investment in river cruising and further strengthens its presence on Europe’s inland waterways.

The new vessel joins her sister ships, Polaris, Capella and Vega on the Rhine, Main and Danube rivers, completing a fleet of custom-designed ships built to a common standard. Accommodating up to 178 guests in 89 cabins and attended by a crew of 44, TM Rigel has been designed to provide a contemporary and fully inclusive river-cruise experience.

Paul Melinis, Managing Director of APT Luxury & Travelmarvel UK & Europe, indicated that the enduring popularity of Europe’s river cruises had reinforced the company’s confidence in the sector. He noted that TM Rigel, like the rest of the Travelmarvel fleet, had been designed to integrate closely with the destinations it visits while offering the comfort, value and modern features expected by today’s travellers. He further stated that the vessel represented a significant investment in both fleet development and the long-term growth of the company’s river-cruise programme.

Designed with contemporary travellers in mind, TM Rigel combines modern amenities with flexible public spaces intended to encourage a relaxed pace of travel. Facilities include an expansive Sun Deck with a jacuzzi, a fitness centre, and a selection of dining and social venues. Accommodation ranges from spacious Owner’s Suites to French-style Balcony Suites fitted with electronic slide-down windows that bring the scenery of the Rhine, Main and Danube directly into the guest experience.

Dining on board centres on the Constellations Restaurant, while the True North Lounge provides a more informal setting for light meals and refreshments. Guests may also gather in McGeary’s Bar, a signature venue inspired by the atmosphere of a traditional public house.

The vessel’s inaugural voyage is being marked by a ceremonial sail-away celebration. On the second day of the cruise, guests and crew are scheduled to gather on the Sun Deck for the ringing of the ship’s bell, formally marking the commencement of TM Rigel’s service and the beginning of the next chapter in Travelmarvel’s European river-cruise operations.
