HAL-Holland America Line is introducing new bandstands at the Lido Pool aboard Oosterdam and Zuiderdam as part of the Holland America Evolution fleet enhancement programme. The dedicated venues will provide additional space for live music and entertainment in one of the ships’ principal social areas.
The first bandstand will debut aboard Oosterdam following its Evolution transformation in autumn 2027, with Zuiderdam receiving the same feature as part of its refurbishment. The programme will include performances ranging from solo musicians to live bands, as well as events associated with Holland America Line’s Orange Party and other established onboard activities.
The Lido Pool’s retractable glass roof will allow the venue to operate in varying weather conditions, providing a dedicated setting for performances throughout the voyage. The bandstands are also intended to serve as central locations for special events and celebrations.
Holland America Line president Beth Bodensteiner said the additions form part of the company’s broader effort to extend and enhance its entertainment offering across the fleet. According to the company, Holland America Evolution is intended to bring selected Pinnacle Class features and other established guest favourites to additional ships.
The programme represents the largest fleet update in Holland America Line’s 153-year history, with an investment of more than US$500 million across 6 Vista and Signature Class ships. The work will include upgrades to public spaces, new venues and additional staterooms and suites.
Oosterdam and Zuiderdam are the first ships scheduled to undergo the transformation. In addition to the Lido Pool bandstands, both vessels will receive the Grand Dutch Café, along with new accommodations and further enhancements to guest areas.
Bookings are already open for cruises aboard Oosterdam and Zuiderdam following their respective refurbishments, allowing passengers to sail on the ships after the new venues and accommodation upgrades have been completed.
