Carnival Breeze sustained minor exterior damage while docking at Cozumel, Mexico, on August 31st, 2026. The incident occurred as the vessel was maneuvering into position alongside the pier.
Passengers aboard Carnival Jubilee, which was berthed nearby, photographed scraped paint and a small indentation on the lower section of Carnival Breeze’s hull near the waterline. Witness accounts indicated that the ship made contact with the pier during the docking maneuver. Images circulated online showed localized damage to the vessel’s exterior, although reports of a small hole have not been officially confirmed by CCL-Carnival Cruise Line.
Cozumel port authorities inspected the pier following the contact and reported no significant damage. Repair work on Carnival Breeze reportedly began shortly afterward, including access to the affected area from inside the hull and cosmetic work on the exterior plating.
No injuries were reported. Some passengers aboard Carnival Breeze said they were unaware of the contact when it occurred.
The ship is operating a 5-night Western Caribbean itinerary that departed Galveston, Texas, on August 29th. Following the Cozumel call, Carnival Breeze is scheduled to visit Progreso on September 1st before returning to Galveston on September 3rd.
Weather conditions at the time were reported to be calm, with light winds, making significant wind influence on the docking maneuver unlikely.
There have been no reports of disruption to the ship’s operations, and Carnival Breeze is expected to continue the scheduled itinerary.
