Princess Cruises is ending a decades-long practice of including calls at Princess Cays, its private island destination on Eleuthera in the Bahamas, which has operated since 1992.
The change is already being reflected in the cruise line’s published itineraries, with Princess Cays calls being replaced by visits to other private destinations operated by Carnival Corporation, including RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay and Celebration Key.
Princess confirmed that several fall itineraries had been revised to substitute RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay for Princess Cays. The changes mark a shift in the use of the line’s private-island network after 30+ years of calls at Princess Cays.
The resort at Princess Cays covers 40+ acres at the southern end of Eleuthera and includes more than half a mile of white-sand beach. Its facilities have traditionally focused on leisure activities and water-based recreation, including kayaking and snorkeling, alongside beach access and other guest amenities.
According to Princess Cruises’ published schedules, only 7 upcoming sailings currently show Princess Cays as a scheduled port of call, with 3 of those cruises already sold out. The reduction indicates that calls at the destination are being progressively removed from future itineraries.
