A small fire was reported at the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy, where NCL-Norwegian Cruise Line’s Norwegian Aura is currently under construction.

The incident generated a visible plume of black smoke from the shipyard, attracting attention in the surrounding area. Video footage of the fire was published by Italian newspaper Il Piccolo.

According to reports from the scene, the fire originated inside a container holding waste and residual materials from work being carried out aboard the cruise ship.

Fincantieri’s internal emergency response teams intervened and brought the fire under control without requiring assistance from the local fire brigade. No injuries or significant damage were reported.

A shipyard worker said the emergency teams were trained to handle such incidents and had extinguished the fire without consequences for personnel. Fincantieri is expected to investigate the cause of the incident and assess any measures required to prevent similar occurrences.
