MSC Cruises announced a construction milestone for its next flagship, MSC World Atlantic. On September 26th, the large vessel was launched from drydock (entered the water for the first time) at the shipbuilding yard of Chantiers de l’Atlantique/CdA (fka STX France) in Saint-Nazaire, France.
The float-out marks the transition from the ship’s assembly phase to the next stage of completion. After the launch, the vessel was berthed at the shipyard's outfitting dock while work continues on its interiors, public areas and remaining technical systems.
MSC World Atlantic is MSC's 25th ship and the 4th in the company’s WORLD Class series.
From November 2027, MSC World Atlantic is scheduled to operate alternating 7- and 14-night itineraries in the Eastern and Western Caribbean. The programmes will include calls at destinations such as Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, MSC Cruises’ private island in The Bahamas.
The ship will feature 7 distinct districts, each with its own range of facilities, entertainment and design characteristics. The concept is intended to combine different cultural influences, cuisine and onboard experiences within a single ship.
MSC World Atlantic is scheduled for delivery to MSC Cruises in 2027 before entering service for its inaugural Caribbean season in November.
