Crew Member Overboard From Costa Cruises Ship

A crew member is missing from Costa Deliziosa, according to the Dutch site cruisereiziger.nl. It is believed that he is overboard. The ship was sailing a transatlantic cruise and the crew member might have gone overboard at around 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday.

The site goes on reporting that Costa Deliziosa turned back around and sailed three and a half hours to where the crew member may have gone overboard. The ship launched a search operation which was also joined by a Portuguese rescue aircraft. At 9:15 p.m. the ship stopped the search and continued on route to its next port of call in the Canary Islands. 

The voyage started from Port Everglades on March 8. The ship’s next port of call was Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Canary Islands on March 3. The cruise will end in Venice, Italy on April 9.
