Cruise tourism in Mombasa is due to pick up with more cruise ships set to dock in the port city.

According to Haji Masemo, Kenya Ports Authority Principal Corporate Communications Officer, the long electioneering period had seen several cruises to Mombasa canceled.

The MS Albatros cruise ship that was scheduled to call at Mombasa on November 3, canceled its visit due to political uncertainty in Kenya.

However, Masemo said that already 2 luxury cruise ships had confirmed arrival in Mombasa by January 2018 since the political temperatures had subsided signaling a significant growth next year.

This comes after Silver Spirit last week docked at Port of Mombasa with over 800 passengers and crew onboard.

The tourists hailed from Germany, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom, among other foreign nations.
