12-Year-Old Boy Medevaced From Princess Cruises Ship

A United States Coast Guard (USCG) crew from Clearwater has rescued a 12-year-old Canadian boy suffering from symptoms of appendicitis while onboard a Princess Cruises ship.

USCG officials said in a news release that Air Station Clearwater's MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew had transported the boy and his father to Miami Tuesday night, January 2.

They were sailing onboard Caribbean Princess, which was about 230 mi southeast of Miami FL.

The agency did not reveal the name or hometown of the passengers.
