An excursion boat carrying 10 cruise passengers sank last week.

The accident happened on Wednesday, January 3, around 15 minutes after the boat sailed from Cozumel, reportedly at the height of Curva Tormentos. The crew instructed all passengers onboard to head to the bow. However, the boat quickly took on water and the travelers had to jump into the water.

The cruise passengers were from a Royal Caribbean and a Celebrity Cruises ship (Celebrity Equinox).

The Mexican Navy respondеd to the accident along with other boats that were nearby to help. All 10 passengers aboard the boat were rescued from the water unharmed and there were no reports of injuries.

It is still unclear what caused the boat to sink.
