Keel Laid for SunStone Expedition Cruise Ship

Shipbuilder CMHI (China Merchants Heavy Industry) held an official keel laying ceremony on June 12 for its new expedition cruise ship, being built for SunStone Ships.

Ice-classed PC6 (Polar Class 6), the ship, named Greg Mortimer, is now being constructed at Haimen shipyard in Jiangsu (China).

Featuring a length of 104.3 m and a beam of 18.4 m, the new vessel will operate for Aurora Expeditions. It can accommodate a total of 255 passengers and crew. For expedition voyages in the polar regions, the newbuild will take on 120 travelers.

Norwegian ship designer Ulstein greated the design of the polar class, X-BOW expedition cruise ship, and provided the equipment package for one newbuild and options for additional 9 units.

This equipment package includes bridge system, ULSTEIN COM, ULSTEIN IAS integrated automation system and ULSTEIN POWER, along with site team support to ensure the ship delivery time.
