With her California debut less than a year away, the exterior completion of Carnival Panorama was celebrated at Marghera's Fincantieri shipyard with a commemorative coin welded to the mast of the ship in time-honored maritime tradition.
The coin took a memorable journey throughout California state prior to winding up at the shipyard, as captured by the celebratory video released by Carnival Cruise Line.
Carnival’s senior vice president of newbuilds, Benoit Clement, represented the cruise line at the ceremony with the employee of Fincantieri’s shipyard for more than 35 years, Antonella Cazzin, serving as godmother for the event.
The 133,500-ton Carnival Panorama is due to debut from Long Beach on December 11, 2019, marking the first Carnival newbuild homeported on the West Coast in twenty years.
