Passenger Ferry Carrying 126 People Suffers Engine Failure in the Philippines

The passenger ro-ro cargo ship Melrivic 2 with 126 crew and passengers, and 14 vehicles onboard suffered engine failure Saturday morning, January 19, while en-route from Isabel (western Leyte island) to the city of Danao (Cebu Island, Philippines).

The disabled ferryboat started to drift while cruising north of Camotes islands. Philippines Navy and Coast Guard managed to evacuate all travellers and deliver them to Cebu's Lapu-Lapu.
