The largest independent cruise port operator in the world, Global Ports Holding Plc, announced it had signed a 15-year management service agreement with Ha Long Sun Ltd Liability Company for Ha Long International Cruise Port in Ha Long Bay, Vietnam.

The Port, which recently benefitted from a US$44 million investment, is Vietnam's first purpose-built cruise port and is capable of handling the largest cruise ships in the world. In 2019, it is expected to welcome more than 75,000 passengers and is forecasted to grow to more than 100,000 passengers next year.

Port of Halong Bay (Vietnam)

Located within the Sun World Halong Complex, a 226 ha entertainment & recreation complex, the modern infrastructure and geographic position of the port - close to China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and Hong Kong, means it is well-positioned to become one of Asia's leading transit ports. Furthermore, it is less than 200 km away from 3 international airports (Cat Bi International Airport, Noi Bai International Airport, and Van Don International Airport), and with Ha Long Bay benefitting from contemporary hotel infrastructure, the Port has the resources to become a homeport for the region.

Ha Long International Cruise Port is the 2nd port in the GPH portfolio in Asia, the region that has seen growth in cruise passengers in recent years and has begun to attract regional and local investment into port-related assets.
